Are you looking to spruce up your bathroom, add a touch of luxury and create a tranquil space to unwind? All Done Design is renowned for creating luxurious family bathrooms and en-suites across North London and our Managing Director, Charlie Avara, has shared her top tips for creating a luxury bathroom.
Lighting
Lighting is an integral part of creating a bathroom that provides a space of relaxation which many of our client’s desire.
Stand out and feature lighting will help your bathroom to glow and really add that luxurious vibe to it. You want to aim for ambient lighting that compliments your space with a relaxing atmosphere, rather than harsh direct lighting that can give the opposite effect.
By adding strip lighting underneath vanities, sinks or mirrors like in this bathroom project we completed below, you can achieve a cost-effective way of adding a luxurious touch, whilst also providing a more flattering light to do daily tasks such as putting makeup on. As you can see, we also added some wall lighting to create a layered effect and add to the glow of the bathroom.
Materials
Choosing the right materials such as flooring and detailing is essential for giving a luxurious feel to your bathroom. For example, swapping out a shower curtain for a glass screen gives a cleaner feel and choosing materials such as marble or wood can give the room more depth.
If marble is out of the budget, you can purchase marble effect flooring and panels that provide a similar finish, at a lower price than the raw materials. Furthermore, adding details such as brass taps or towel rails like the bathroom below can transform the overall look of the room, making a statement, as well as giving an opulent touch.
Declutter
This might seem like an obvious one, but decluttering a bathroom can truly make a huge difference to the overall space, making the room more relaxing, and giving that hotel effect with minimalism. This doesn’t mean that you are not able to store anything in your bathroom, but by adding cabinetry that fits with the design of the bathroom, you can easily store away all of your daily bathroom essentials, without taking away the luxurious feel.
You could even add storage compartments within the shower, to prevent shampoo and shower gel bottles being left on the shower floor with no place to be kept tidy. Make sure to also dispose of any unnecessary items to create more space and reduce the amount of storage needed.
Add a Touch of Colour
Having a luxury bathroom doesn’t mean it has to be monochrome, at All Done Design we love to embrace colour within a bathroom whilst still achieving a luxurious feel. In the bathroom project below, we added a blush pink wall to complement the contrasting marble shower. This along with the brassware details within the shower and door handles created a stand-out bathroom that really gives the wow effect.
A large walk-in shower can be a good option for a bathroom if you are lacking space and want to give the illusion of a bigger room whilst staying within the functionalities of your bathroom. You can invest in the area, adding brassware for a luxurious touch and statement detailing such as the black trim we used in the shower pictured below.
