A kitchen is often the heart of your home, a communal space where drinking, eating and socialising are combined in the best way possible. Love to host and looking to upgrade your kitchen to become a more social environment to create memories in? Let us dive into our top tips for creating a kitchen that is built for socialising.
The first tip is to merge your kitchen and dining area together. Open-planned spaces are ideal for entertaining and accommodating for more people. Add in a seating area and you are bound to naturally spend more time socialising in the kitchen. If your kitchen doesn’t have enough space, or you are not looking to go open-planned just yet, opt for a kitchen island that creates a breakfast bar setting where guests can sit and socialise whilst the cooking is being done – plus it also creates more worktop space and storage. Here’s one we made earlier…
As you can see in this kitchen, the island creates the illusion of a bigger space and the open door frame creates an inviting and flowing space to socialise between kitchen and dining room areas.
Additionally, adding colour to your kitchen adds character to the room, naturally drawing people in. Even if the kitchen is on the smaller side, embrace this and decorate the room to your own distinct taste. By adding your own personal touches and selected pieces the kitchen becomes a cosy space that feels both relaxing and welcoming.
And lastly, lighting. Lighting is key to creating ambience in the kitchen – nobody likes to socialise in a dull area. By adding feature lighting to cabinets and around the island to brighten and enhance the space, you create a warm and social atmosphere, ready to host the dinner party of the year!
